I wouldn't call him much of a good guitarist.
Pretty average, like tons average.

You don't have to use a lot of effects to be a good guitarist. Otherwise people like James Taylor would not be highly respected. To be honest though, Good Charlotte and all these other bands play so loudly I don't think I would notice the difference between them playing and snoring into the microphones...

Also I don't like listening to bands that use too many effects, I'm not a big fan of Jimi Hendrix... (for example)
