Good Charlotte

Bucket

2009: Finally, Good Charlotte become washed up pop stars.

I'll admit I was wrong, I expected GC's demise long ago, 2005 probably. I'll give them credit, they maintained (some) popularity by dating people more famous and talented than they are.

But now Benji and Paris have been apart for some time now, and nicole being happy with some weight on her are no longer interesting, it's good to see GC are no longer one of the top pop bands in the world.

It's hard to think of another band that achieved so much with so little talent. GC will be the pinnacle in the time of music when looks and image became more than just a side act of music - they became the main attraction.

Good Charlotte's popularity did last for the better part of a decade, it's comforting that they will mostly be remembered only for nostalgic reasons of teens who become adults and wonder however they became so mad crazy over people they've never met before and never would.

Things don't look much better for the mainstream music industry going into the second decade of the third millennium, but we can take comfort in knowing that GC follows pop rules, and will be confined to history next to MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice and Milli Vanilli, GC's predecessors from the previous decade.

If they ever hit as low as Justin Timberlake or someone, I'll go down there and belt the fuck out of each one of them.
